Big Bang
The big bang happened about 14.000 million years ago. All the universe was inside a bubble that was very small. It was very, very hot and dense. Then it suddenly exploded. Time, space and matter started with the Big Bang. In a second, the Universe went from being very small to larger than a galaxy.
It continued to grow until today, it's still growing. The Universe expanded and cooled and all the energy transformed into particles of matter and antimatter. These two opposite types of particles destroyed each other. But small things survived, the most stable particles called protons and neutrons began to form when the universe was a second old. Three minutes later, the temperature dropped sharply to 1 billion degrees Celsius. It was cold enough and the protons and neutrons joined together to form hydrogen nuclei. After 300,000 years, the universe had cooled up to about 3000 degrees. Atomic nuclei could eventually capture electrons to form atoms. The universe was filled with clouds of hydrogen and helium gas.
